Research – Finding Graves and Taking Photos

As part of our commitment to preserving the rich history of Boroondara (Kew) Cemetery, we assist with locating graves and documenting them through photography. This important work supports family historians, descendants, researchers, and the broader community in connecting with the stories of those interred here.

Our volunteers and members are often involved in:

  • Grave location research using cemetery records, maps, and archival resources

  • On-site visits to locate and verify headstones or memorials

  • Photographing gravesites for documentation, historical records, or for those unable to visit in person

  • Sharing findings with interested families, researchers, and genealogy platforms

This work not only honours the memory of those buried here but also contributes to the preservation of local history and community heritage.

Whether you’re a seasoned researcher or new to cemetery studies, your curiosity and care are welcome. Join us in uncovering and preserving the stories etched in stone.
